Adidas unveils new ball for World Cup

Adidas unveils new ball for World Cup
: The official football to be used at the 2006 World Cup was unveiled on Friday.

The Adidas ball will be called Teamgeist and for the first time since 1994, it will be a more conventional looking black and white design.

The last Adidas ball for the 2002 world cup called "Fevernova" ball was a beige colour with a large gold, black and red design.

German sporting goods maker Adidas hopes to sell 10 million of the official balls.

Adidas, who have provided the official World Cup ball since 1970, had hoped to equip balls at the 2006 finals with microchips that would help in deciding if the ball had crossed the goal line but FIFA decided against using the technology.
