Gucci Sneakers

Gucci Sneakers: "Gucci sneakers became very popular in the last in the last decade. Unlike footwear made by Nike or Adidas, Gucci sneakers have a distinct and typical Italian style and are addressed to a more select group of customers.
They are carefully designed by the companys talented designers and offer an extraordinary choice for those who prefer to wear unique and different footwear than most people. Also unlike more popular brands, Guccis sneakers are more expensive, but thats the price of uniqueness."

DADDY YANKEE HAS PLANS TO LAUNCH REEBOK SNEAKER

He may be a relative newbie on the scene, but Daddy Yankee's name is already being mentioned in the same sentence as superstars like Jay-Z, 50 Cent and Nelly.

That is, when the sentence pertains to hip hop artists who have signed with Reebok to launch their own sneaker line. The reggaeton artist who was recently honored with two Billboard Awards, will have a signature collection with Reebok called DY, that includes sneakers, apparel and accessories. DY is set to launch in the spring of 2006 and will be available in athletic specialty stores.

In conjunction with the deal, Yankee will also be featured in Reebok's "I Am What I Am" advertising campaign, which has already blanketed cities with ads featuring Jay, 50, Allen Iverson and others.

"Reebok is the perfect brand for me to partner with because they believe in what I believe in ? being real and not being afraid to do something that sets you apart from the crowd,? said Yankee in a statement. His collection of sport-inspired designs will reflect Yankee's energy.

?I?m truly honored to be able to share my uniqueness and creativity with the rest of the world through my deal with Reebok,? he said.

Adidas could conclude Reebok takeover early

Adidas could conclude Reebok takeover early: An Adidas spokesman said on Tuesday Reebok had scheduled a key general meeting to obtain shareholders' approval for the deal on Jan. 25.

He added that the regular antitrust review of the European Commission, which has to approve the deal, ends one day before this date, suggesting the main hurdles could be cleared by then.

European antitrust authorities can, however, extend their review by two weeks anytime before the deadline or start an in-depth review lasting about three months if complicated issues come up.

U.S. antitrust authorities approved the takeover in autumn.

The spokesman reiterated that Adidas expected the takeover to be closed in the first half of 2006. The German firm has pledged to buy the outstanding Reebok shares for $59 per share, for which it raised 648 million euros ($777 million) through a capital increase to help finance the deal.

Adidas under fire

Adidas under fire: A special report on the ruthless fight between sports manufacturers ahead of the World Cup.

It's one of the most iconic brands in sport, but the Adidas three-stripe is under threat after being banned at the Olympics and grand slam tennis tournaments for breaking advertising rules.

It's all part of a multi-million pound dirty war that's being waged between the big sports manufacturers ahead of next year's football World Cup.

Bloomberg.com: U.S.

Bloomberg.com: U.S.: Jane Hali, a New York fashion consultant, recalls the city's transit strike 25 years ago for the shoes.

It was during those 11 days that she kicked off her heels and started biking to work in sneakers. Many more women marched through the city's streets the same way, with white sports socks yanked up over their pantyhose. The style came to symbolize the New York City working woman of the '80s.

``The strike pioneered commuters wearing sneakers'' in New York, says Hali, who was an assistant manager at Macy's Herald Square department store at the time and lived in Greenwich Village. `It gave women permission to be comfortable.''

As New York's 7 million transit riders wait for word on another shutdown of the trains and buses, many people are planning to pull out their most comfortable shoes and walk if that's what it takes to get to work on Monday. A lengthy winter strike might spur its own fashion trends, including more down, shearling and fur coats for Manhattan crowds accustomed to wearing lighter-weight wool, fashion consultants say.

Women Trade 'Sex and the City' Heels For Sneakers for Grueling Trek to Work

Women Trade 'Sex and the City' Heels For Sneakers for Grueling Trek to Work: "Normally, the people come well dressed," she said. "Today people were saying with this strike: 'We'd rather be comfortable.'"

Just a day into the strike, New York women started turning in their "Sex and the City" heels for sneakers and rubber soled boots as they prepared to hike miles and miles through the freezing city streets. Some men, who wear flat shoes every day, pulled on even more comfortable shoes for their long treks.

"Wear comfortable shoes," the commissioner of the Department of Transportation, Iris Weinshall, recommended. "Don't look for fashion at this point. Go for comfort."

Ms. Weinshall is taking her own advice. She purchased a pair of Merrell "strike shoes" in anticipation of the transit strike at Paragon Sports and has been wearing them to work - even to a Tuesday briefing at City Hall.

Brinco Sneakers

Brinco Sneakers: Although only 1000 of these shoes were made, these limited edition sneakers are more about art than footwear. Featured in the Printed Matter booth at Art Basel and designed by Argentine-born artist Judi Werthein, Brincos were created for migrant workers crossing the U.S./Mexico border.

Each pair comes with a flashlight and compass attached to the shoelaces, a small pocket in the tongue for money or pain relievers, and a map of the border printed on the removable insole. With a Mexican-flag colorway, the pattern on the heel represents the Mexican eagle and the design on the toe hails from the American eagle found on quarter dollars.

A small portrait of the Vatican-approved patron saint of migrants, St. Toribio Romo Gonzalez, adorns the back ankle.
